The Art and Supposed Science of Motivation

Can we as HR leaders motivate employees to increase productivity and excel in their work? Many people claim we can’t because motivation is an intrinsic factor that we cannot easily influence. While there is truth to that statement, managers can improve employee performance and company loyalty by understanding and applying the basic fundamentals of motivational management theories.

In this presentation, we will take a quick trip through more than a century of motivational management theory. We will stop along the way to explore the wisdom and, in some cases, the fallacies associated with these concepts, and participants will identify motivational methods best suited to meet the needs of their diverse teams.
