Leveraging Military Talent in the Workplace

Skilled veterans bring value to the workplace.  Our August program will focus on how best to recruit, invest in, and serve military talent.  Participants will learn:

-       How to leverage the employment services that Texas Veterans Commission offers to veterans

-       How to translate military experience into civilian skills

-       The additional benefits Texas Veterans Commission offers to veterans, including Educational assistance, health care services and mental health support

We will also provide information on how to obtain The SHRM Foundation's new Veterans at Work Certificate.

About the speakers:

Daniel Clark

Daniel Clark has served with the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) as a District Coach for the past six years. He is responsible for developing, training and coaching TVC Veteran Career Advisors (VCAs) in North Texas. His team assists veterans in securing professional and quality employment. Prior to TVC, Daniel served as a Master Chief Petty Officer for 30 years in the United States Navy. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Off duty interest include spending time with family, traveling and engaging the gun range.

Lee Ware

Lee E. Ware has served with the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) as a Veterans Employer Liaison for the past eighteen months. He is responsible for conducting outreach to employers, organizations, and other service providers to promote Veterans employment goals and objectives and to assist Veterans in gaining employment. Prior to TVC, Lee served as a First Sergeant for 20 years in the United States Army, and a Manager of Terminal Operations for the Union Pacific Railroad for 9 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Upper Iowa University. His hobbies include: Traveling, Fishing and spending time with family.

This program is pending 1.00 general credit towards PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification through HRCI and 1.00 Professional Development Credit towards SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP recertification through SHRM.

Mid-Cities HR Association is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.

All online reservations are due by NOON on the Monday before the meeting.  Online registration will be closed at that time. 

Guests not registered online will be considered Guest Walk-In registrations and will be charged a rate of $45.  Member Walk-In registrations will be charged the regular guest rate of $35.

Cancellations & Payments:
We regret that we must charge members and guests the cost of the event when cancellations are not received at least 48 hours prior to the event day. Also, all payments must be made before or by the time of attendance.  By submitting your registration, you agree to these conditions. We appreciate your understanding and support.
